INDO CORAL CONSERVATION

Indo Coral Conservation, located on Gili Air, is an NGO dedicated to marine conservation. They’re focused on restoring and preserving coral reefs around the Gili Islands through coral farming since 2019, community engagement and education, and sustainable management practices to combat local environmental degradation.Their mission is to safeguard the long-term health and resilience of marine ecosystems while educating local communities on their importance.

Did you know that despite covering just 0.2% of the earth’s surface, corals support up to 25% of all marine life?

Join Indo Coral Conservation in protecting marine life by supporting their restoration project and educational incentives. Let’s work together to combat these threats and preserve our oceans for future generations.

WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE CORAL FARMING?

Sustainable coral farming is the practise of farming using principles of ecology – the study of relationships between organisms and their environment. It’s all about farming the right species in the right environment. With this in mind, the corals harvested at our nursery can then be used to restore parts of the reef around the Gill islands.

PLASTIC POLLUTION:
EDUCATE & REDUCE WASTE

Plastic pollution poses a significant threat to our oceans. Every year, at least 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans, accounting for 80% of marine debris from surface waters to deep-sea sediments. The North Pacific Ocean has even accumulated a massive collection of marine debris, known as “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch,” which is three times the size of France.

Indo Coral Conservation runs the β€œKids” program at the local school in Gili Air. This children’s program aims to raise awareness among younger generations about waste and environmental protection. Activities include educational workshops, games, artistic projects, island cleanups, and community events to encourage children to take concrete steps to reduce waste and promote sustainable environmental behaviors. Through our Kids program, we hope to instill a sense of environmental responsibility in children and encourage them to become lifelong advocates for a cleaner and healthier island and planet.
